Creation of a master-plan for fragmented town centre shopping centre
Challenges:
Yate shopping centre forms the heart of the town centre alongside a number of public, civic and leisure properties but it is set out in a disparate fashion. Shopper behaviour is changing and the town is also identified in the West of England joint spatial plan for expansion |
Strategy:
Ellandi led on a masterplan exercise in conjunction with South Gloucestershire Council to ensure future relevance for the growing community and changing shopping habits |
Solutions:
Consolidate the retail footprint and better integrate existing uses |
Release land through rationalisation and improvement of public estate and car parking |
Increase density and bring a wider range of uses to the town centre such as retail, food and beverage, leisure, workspace, hotel and residential |
