#Retail Rocks - It really does

11th Jun 2013

On Thursday 6th June, Ellandi hosted its second annual retail conference. Almost 150 of the UK's most influential retail professionals rocked up at The Geological Society, Piccadilly for an afternoon of facts, figures and debate with a side order of rock.

The afternoon started with a summary Ellandi's achievements in the last 12 months. This was swiftly followed by presentations on "Non-Prime Shopping Centres" by the Head of Research at Savills, Stephen Toal and "Where are we in the investment cycle? 1996 or 2001?" by the Head of Investment at Briant Champ Long, James Watson.

After the break, Mike Phillips facilitated the panel discussions. First up was the investors view panel consisting of Mark Robinson of Ellandi, David Henderson-Williams of Hark Group and Allan Lockhart of New River Retail. The debate was rather heated and ended with a comment by Allan Lockhart stating

"It's not about primary or secondary it's about understanding your customer & providing for that".

Next up was the bankers view panel where honesty was most definitely the order of the afternoon. The panel consisted of Gregor Bamert of Barclays Corporate, Barry Fowler of Lloyds Banking Group, Andrew Haines of Chenavari Financial Group and Michael Kenney of Deutsche Pfandbriefbank.

Here's a comments we've had following the event:
