New Centre Manager appointed at White River Place
9th Dec 2013
A new Centre Manager has been appointed at White River Place shopping centre, St Austell. Richard Hurst will be taking up the post from the start of January 2014, bringing over 20 years of experience in retail and customer services.
For the past four years Richard has been working as Operations Manager at the award-winning Chapelfield shopping centre in Norwich, and has previously worked for several airports, including managing a variety of people services at Heathrow.
As well as overseeing day to day management of the centre Richard’s role will focus on working with centre owners Ellandi on the continuing development of White River Place’s retail, food and leisure offer and its increasing involvement with events and activity in the wider St Austell town area.
Richard said: “I am delighted to have been appointed Centre Manager and can’t wait to get stuck in to the job. White River Place has a key role to play at the heart of the local community, and it is a great opportunity for me to bring my skills and experience to benefit not just White River Place, but the whole town.
“The success of White River Place is inextricably linked to the success of the wider town, and so by aiming to fill shop vacancies and increase footfall we can increase trade for businesses across St Austell and sell the area as an exciting destination to both local people and visitors from further afield.
“I have spent a lot of time in Cornwall in recent years, and it is undoubtedly a county that’s easy to fall in love with. Relocating from Norfolk with my wife, mother in law and three dogs is a big move, but I’m looking forward to being part of the community here and the challenge of taking on the job at White River Place.”
Mike Wimble of centre owners Ellandi said: “The investments we are making in the centre and in bringing such a highly experienced new manager here demonstrate our commitment to the success of White River Place and St Austell town centre.
“We are delighted to have Richard joining the team and we look forward to working with him in the future.”
