Ellandi breathes new lease of life into to Middleton Shopping Centre The future is bright for the Middleton Shopping Centre following a number of new lettings. 

The Centre which was purchased by the specialist Community Shopping Centre investor & asset manager Ellandi just six months ago has already had eight new lettings, and three renewals with four additional lettings in the pipeline. 

The new lettings have not only filled five previously vacant units but have also brought a number of new independent and national retailers to the centre including Select, and Store Twenty One. 

It marks a positive step for the 1970’s centre and is just the first stage of the master plan which has included an increased number of events to draw more shoppers into the centre & a new website due to launch shortly. 

Tim Cornford, Asset Manager of the centre at Ellandi said “Our blueprint for the future delivers major changes to the centre including a complete re-brand and overhaul of the public toilets. “We are also planning to improve circulation of shoppers within the scheme, with three floors and a wealth of national and local traders. We are keen to make sure out shoppers understand and enjoy everything the scheme offers. We intend to invest approximately £2 million in the scheme which will help the centre achieve its potential and deliver a much improved shopping experience to our loyal and local customers”. 

 The 330,000 Square Foot Shopping Centre with 430 parking spaces attracts 4.15 million shopper visits last year and was originally built in 1971 and extended in 2006. The Shopping Centre is an active supporter of Middleton’s Town centre management initiative and are currently supporting ‘Middleton’s Grand Day Out’ heritage day and the ‘Rochdale Business Awards.” 

The improved mix of retailers and a packed programme of activities including modelling competitions, family entertainment and seasonal events has been well received by the shoppers and many retailers are reporting an increase in sales as an outcome.
