Poundworld opened a 5,900 sq ft unit on the High Street
in Chatham on the 31st July. The retailer filled the unit previously
occupied by fashion retailer Internationale who went into administration
earlier this year.
The family-run business with over 245 stores
across the UK promises to bring the locals more than 5,000 products including
leading brands for £1.
The high street location has created an
additional twenty nine new jobs, with most of the employees living locally.
Martyn Stone, Pentagon Shopping Centre
Director said “It’s wonderful to have Poundworld join us in the town. As a
community shopping centre, we like to be able to give back to the local community
and creating local jobs is one way for us to do that.”
The store comes as part of the company’s
significant expansion strategy to open between 40 and 50 new stores per year
over the next three years.
