One Great Day for Ellandi Centres

Posted by Ellandi on 8th Jun 2015

On Saturday 27th June, nine Ellandi Shopping Centres will be taking part in the “One Great Day – Fun Raising for Children” Charity Day.

Now in its second year, One Great Day was set up by the parents of a little boy who received care at Great Ormond Street Hospital. The charity aims to inspire, engage and empower communities to make a difference by getting involved in a series of local fundraising events held within shopping centres across the UK.

Unique in its link to the Shopping Centre Industry, the charity day was run across 11 F&C Reit Shopping Centres in 2014 and raised over £50,000. With the involvement of the Ellandi schemes this year, the charity hopes to raise significantly more for both Great Ormond Street Hospital & the local charity partners chosen by each centre.

Events across the schemes range from a sponsored walk up Mount Snowdon by the team at The Idlewells Shopping Centre in Sutton in Ashfield to a family fun event on the Round the Island Race day at the Marlands Shopping Centre in Southampton, a dance-a-thon at the Strand Shopping Centre in Bootle and four weeks of fun at the Ladysmith Shopping Centre in Ashton Under Lyne.

A number of the schemes have chosen local charities that will receive 50% of the amount raised at their centre. Those being supported across the schemes include the follow:

  • Archie Foundation (Trinity Shopping Centre, Aberdeen)
  • The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (Ladysmith Shopping Centre in Ashton Under Lyne)
  • Zoe’s Place (Strand Shopping Centre, Bootle)
  • Footprints (Bouverie Place Shopping Centre, Folkestone)
  • Francis House Children’s Hospice (Middleton Shopping Centre, Middleton)
  • Jessie May (Crown Glass Shopping Centre, Nailsea)
  • Nottinghamshire Health Care NHS Foundation Trust (Idlewells Shopping Centre in Sutton in Ashfield)

In addition the Newlands Shopping Centre, Kettering & the Marlands Shopping Centre in Southampton have chosen to donate the full amount to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Jaya Sabnani, Marketing Manager at Ellandi said “We’re really delighted with how many of our shopping centres have opted to take part in raising money for so many fantastic causes. I can’t wait to see how much the Ellandi portfolio raise!”

The launch event took place on Thursday 4th June at St Christophers Place and was attended by Olympic Champion Victoria Pendleton.
