Positive outcome of The Parkway Neighbourhood Fund

Posted by Ellandi on 31st Mar 2017

In January 2016, Tim & Jaya from Ellandi along with Zoe from The Parkway Shopping Centre, James from Project Dirt and few other local stakeholders sat down for the judging of the Parkway Neighbourhood Fund. The fund was set up with the help of Project Dirt and aimed to donate £16,000 to grassroots groups within the local community.

The Trinity Family Friendly Centre was one of the groups we selected, giving them £2,000 to purchase some catering kitchen equipment. The cooker and shelving were installed just before Christmas 2016 which allowed the centre to put on a Community Christmas lunch.

The kitchen continues to be put to good use, allowing the centre to produce soup and sandwiches for an after school club, sandwiches and hot drinks for an older people's Live at Home scheme weekly meeting and an appropriate base for refreshments during the annual pantomime.

A representative from the Trinity Family Friendly Centre said "Thanks to the Parkway Neighbourhood Fund, we now have he beginning of a substantial catering standard kitchen facility which will not only give catering opportunities for the community but also be able to offer a suitable place for food hygiene and budget cooking courses."

Here are the before and after photos of the kitchen:
