Ellandi Retail Rocks 2017 : Press Round Up
6th Jul 2017
On Thursday 6th July, exactly 9,400 hours since our last retail property conference, Ellandi hosted Retail Rocks. As always, the event was well attended by members of the retail property industry.
The day started with a quick intro from Mark Robinson, providing an update of Ellandi, 12 months on.
Ellandi's research and analytics director, Andrew Buckley was up next, presenting Real Shoppers in Real Locations, a summary of our research piece in conjunction with Savills.
Andrew's account of "Everyday People" was followed by our retailer panel session compared by Luke Tugby of Retail Week. The panel discussion which consisted of James Air (JD Sports), Helen Burgess (WH Smith) and Andrew Milner-Walker (The Entertainer) was encapsulated by Helen Crane of Property Week in her article:
Business Rates "toughest challenge", says WH Smith Property Head
Following a short comfort break, Morgan Garfield introduced the investor panel which was compared by David Hatcher of Estates Gazette. The session consisted of Allan Lockhart (NewRiver REIT), Bob Mogford (M&G), Simon Martin (Tristan Capital Partners) and Simon Travis (Hammerson).
Amber Rolt of Estates Gazette summarised the session in her article:
Lack of opportunity behind reduced retail investment volumes
Morgan Garfield did his usual job of pulling together the final thoughts from the afternoon, urging those in the audience to move away from sweeping all shopping centres with one broad brush and instead encouraging others to distinguish between asset classes.
Kasmira Jefford of Co-Star provides a great outline of the entire event in her article:
