It is that time of year again when we need to predict the future and set it to numbers by budgeting for our schemes. With minimal casualties since the last quarter day – less than stellar electrical retailers aside – and (hopefully) plenty of pent up consumer demand following the wet summer and sporting distractions, could it be that we will see an upturn in retailer confidence and appetite for retail space going into 2013? It would be brave to be bullish, especially with various government departments working hard to undermine the limited progress made so far in supporting the UK's town centres, but it would be nice to be presenting fewer red numbers this year.
