MP Liam Fox met the winners of the Nailsea Win a Shop competition at the weekend to discuss their plans for new shops in the Crown Glass Shopping Centre.

Fran Hunt and Emily Rickard each won a shop in the centre, free for a year, in the competition, which attracted more than 30 local people who submitted their business ideas.  Judges were so impressed with the entries they received they decided to give away two shops, rather than one.

Liam Fox praised the competition when he and Cllr Clare Hunt, chair of Nailsea Town Council, visited the shops to see progress.

Liam Fox said: "It's wonderful that this competition has created such local interest and provided two fantastic winners. All we have to do now is transform the enthusiasm into business and everyone is a winner."

Fran Hunt of party and wedding supplies sale and hire business Partysmartys plans to open the doors at 15 Colliers Walk within the first two weeks of October.

Meanwhile, Emily Rickard will open the Ewe-Knit 20 shop at 20 Colliers Walk soon afterwards, to provide machine knitting classes, materials for creative and hobbyist knitwear, and her own range of knitted clothing and accessories.
