Enniskillen is the largest town in County Fermanagh.  The town's name comes from the Irish: Inis Ceithleann. This refers to Cethlenn, a figure in Irish mythology.   Local legend has it that Cethlenn was wounded in battle by an arrow and attempted to swim across the River Erne, which surrounds the island, but she never reached the other side, so the island was named in reference to her.

Erneside Shopping Centre is a covered scheme comprising of 34 retail units and over 600 car parking spaces. The scheme is anchored by Marks and Spencer's, Next & New Look with other national retailers including Vodafone, JD Sports, Clarks & Costa Coffee.

The town and centre benefits from a high amount of cross-border traffic and tourism which is reflected positively in the turnover figures of its retailers who profit from an average customer spend of over £105!

The scheme is well served by Northern Ireland's road network and forms the point at which several key routes converge.

There is also an extensive bus network serving destinations located throughout Enniskillen and the rest of the County Fermanagh which operates from the town's bus station. Long distance bus services also provide links to Dublin, Belfast, Cavan, and Donegal.

The town benefits from being well connected to both Belfast International Airport, which is located 82 miles (132 km) to the northeast and George Best Belfast City Airport, which is 86miles (138 km) away.
