Parkway Shopping Centre is the definition of a community shopping centre.

The Parkway opened in 1986 and provides 210,000 sq. ft. of retail accommodation and adjoins a number of non-retail community facilities including; a health centre, dentist and day nursery. The Rainbow Leisure Centre is also accessible via the scheme.

The scheme itself comprises 33 retail units and benefits from 507 free car parking spaces attracting some 4.4 million shoppers a year. Key national retailers include Tesco Extra, WH Smith Post Office, Pep & Co, Boyes Department Store, Boots, Superdrug, Home Bargains, Specsavers, Burger King and Peacocks.

Coulby Newham is located in the North East of England and lies within Middlesbrough Borough Council. The town is positioned 3 miles to the south of Middlesbrough city centre and benefits from a frequent Stagecoach bus service.

Coulby Newham remains a rapidly developing suburb of Middlesbrough, Tesco choosing to locate a new £2m store in the area in 2005. There are many new private housing developments in the suburbs, making Coulby Newham spread in the direction of Great Ayton and other villages close to the hills.
